I got my head checked By a jumbo jet It wasn’t easy But nothing is No
When I feel heavy metal (Woo-hoo) And I’m pins and I’m needles (Woo-hoo) Well, I lie and I’m easy All of the time but I’m never sure why I need you Pleased to meet you
I got my head done When I was young It’s not my problem It’s not my problem
When I feel heavy metal (Woo-hoo) And I’m pins and I’m needles (Woo-hoo) Well, I lie and I’m easy All of the time but I’m never sure why I need you Pleased to meet you
Yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah Oh, yeah

Background
The birth of “Song 2” wasn’t from the usual creative genius other songs form the the band benefited from. In fact, the “Song 2” lyrics were written as a joke on the record label. Graham Coxon (One of the founding members of Blur) had originally recorded a demo version of the song with its very identifiable sound “woo-hoo” in whistle form.
With some minor teaks and edits, the group told record label executive that they wanted to release the song as a single from the new album as soon as possible, expecting to be meet with shock bewilderment.
In fact, the label reps liked it, and thought he song could have huge commercial appeal.
The name “Song 2” was only ever meant to be a working title which represented its slot in the upcoming tracklist, but the same stuck and become the name of one of the most loved brit-pop songs ever written.
Some have speculated it was written as a parody of the current grunge music scene at the time, but at the end of the day, who cares! Its a banger!
Reception
